Lorraine & Bennett Hammond are the feature. This revered local duo are versatile and multi-talented entertainers. They’re nationally famous for being the driving, ever-supportive force behind the SAMW summer music retreats (among others they staff). Lorraine is a delightful singer and plays a variety of instruments: mandolin, harp, banjo, guitar and most gloriously, the mountain dulcimer. Bennett’s acerbic wit, resonant vocals and delicate guitar-work (and rockafolkie banjo) perfectly complement Lorraine’s talents.

They have a long and varied history of musical accomplishments, truly astounding. Lorraine summarizes it best, “I am proudest of my role in creating, teaching, and perpetuating music that will empower people to find their own voice.” With world-wide stage appearances, over 10 CD’s of their own and plentiful backing and instructional work, Lorraine and Bennett hardly need an introduction. Take this opportunity to hear Lorraine & Bennett Hammond at our small, informal venue!

LOMA Open Mike is a monthly event. We have a sound system with mikes and instrumental pickups suitable for individuals or small groups playing acoustic-style. Kenny Selcer ably handles the sound. You are encouraged to sign up well in advance. We expect everyone will have a chance to perform, but in case of overflow, the first 20 performers to sign up will be given priority.
